According to Ministry of Fisheries, in first 7 months, total production of fisheries sector was estimated at 2,165,484 MT, an increase of 6.21% over the same period of 2006. Catching production reached 1,247,900 MT, up 22.1%.
Export values were estimated at US$340 million in July, the cumulated values in first 7 months is arround US$1,988 million, up 15.71% over the same period.
However, export of fisheries, particularly shrimp to Japan significantly decreased due to high demands on quality and seafood safety and hygiene.
