Coming back from the trip of trade promotion and export market expansion to South America, some participants in Vasep delegation had following findings :
Fisheries and aquaculture in Chile is developing fastly. With abundant material sources from wild-catch and farming with variety of fish such as salmon, squid, octopus,... Chile will be a big supplier for Vietnam’s seafood processing industry, according to Mr Tran Van Dung, General director of Baseafood.
Besides, Vietnam seafood producers is expecting that Chile would be also a potential importer of pangasius from Vietnam thanks to increasing fish comsumption of the country.
After the meeting with Chilean seafood enterprises, Vietamese entrepreneurs realised that partners were very frienly and open. They have experiences in international negotiation and seafood trading.
However, in Brasil, fish products are very expensive, though Brasilians seem prefering meat to fish. Thus, accessing to this market requires more efforts than Chile.
After the trip, Vietnamese enterprises expect to get more information relating to import tariff and food hygiene and safety standards to promote seafood export to these markets.
