(Vasep, October 26, 2007) In first 9 months of 2007, Vietnam exported seafood to 135 international markets, with 661,000 MT, valued at US$2.709 million, an increase of 13% in volume and 13.8% in value over the same period last year. In September, Vietnam exported 81,800 MT of seafood valued at US$347.306 million, modest increase over the same month of 2006.
(FIS, 19/10/2007) As the major pangasius producer in the region, Vietnam is supposed to lay the groundwork for certification of pangasius aquaculture products in the near future, according to the outcome of the Pangasius Aquaculture Dialogue held last month in Ho Chi Minh City. More than 70 producers and buyers agreed that there is an urgent need to certify pangasius aquaculture products.
(VNA, 17/10/2007) Viet Nam will send aquaculture experts to Mozambique in 2008 and in return welcome specialists from the African country. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam and Mozambique Minister of Fisheries Cadmiel Mutemba reached the consensus during their talks in Hanoi on October 17th 2007.
In third quarter, there will be more 2 seafood enterprises listing on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange: Nam Viet Corporation (Navico) and Vinh Hoan Corporation. They are two big processors and exporters of pangasius (tra, basa). Navico is considered as the top enterprise in the country in terms of chaptered capital, profits and processing capacity.
