Sam Altshuler beats Simion Bobi 3-1 to claim historic gold at ITTF Para Challenger Spokane

Sam Altshuler has reached a major milestone in his career by winning the men’s singles Class 6 title at the ITTF Para Challenger Spokane. In the final, he defeated world No. 3 Simion Bobi 3-1 to claim his first Challenger title. The four games were tense and featured many lead changes. Altshuler won the opening game 12-10 after a tight battle. Bobi responded strongly by taking the second game 11-4. Far from being shaken, Altshuler showed great composure and edged the third game 13-11. The fourth game followed a similar pattern, with the score tied at 10-10 before Altshuler finished the match with a 12-10 victory. Speaking after the match, Altshuler said: "It was a tough match and it was great to get it done. If you told me two years ago, I never would have thought I would be at this level. I want to thank everyone supporting me and to thank my mom and dad for helping me throughout my whole journey in table tennis." Besides the title itself, the win gives Altshuler an important boost on the International Table Tennis Federation world rankings. The 300 points earned at ITTF Para Challenger Spokane have moved him to world No. 6, just outside the top five. That sets him up nicely for the ITTF Para Elite Spokane, which begins on August 11. The Spokane Challenger event is part of the ITTF World Para Circuit. Beating a top-three player at home gives Altshuler confidence and underlines his growth in both technique and nerve. He won three games by just two points each, which proves his ability to stay calm and perform in decisive moments. Altshuler will now look to continue that momentum at the ITTF Para Elite Spokane. He will then travel to Yvelines, France, in September for his next ITTF World Para Circuit event. The biggest target will follow at the ITTF Para World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, from November 13 to 19. With a new world ranking and a Challenger title behind him, Altshuler has every reason to believe in a strong world championship campaign. This success in Spokane is not just a reward for hard work.
